NEW: Gentle Labour Encouragement Session
A natural induction–style session to gently support your body into labour
This calming, hands-on session is designed for moms who are nearing or past their estimated due date, whose waters have broken without labour starting, or who are simply wanting a natural, nurturing way to encourage their body to move toward active labour.
Using a gentle blend of essential-oil aromatherapy, relaxation massage, and focused acupressure points, the session aims to reduce tension, support oxytocin release, and help your body soften and prepare for labour.
While it is not a guaranteed induction method, many moms find it deeply relaxing, encouraging, and often notice contractions beginning within hours.
Perfect for:
• Post-dates pregnancies (40+ weeks)
• Waters breaking without the onset of labour
• Early labour that needs gentle encouragement
• Moms wanting a natural approach before medical induction becomes necessary
• Anyone needing to relax, reset, and support their body’s readiness for birth (38+ weeks)
Fee:
• Existing birth clients: R700
• Non-birth clients: R850
When sessions work best:
These sessions are ideally done in the evening, after dinner, so you can relax fully and head to bed afterward, and who knows… you may just wake up to contractions.

I’m Taryn, a Cape Town-based professional Birth Doula, certified Birth Photographer, and certified Orgasmic Birth® Practitioner, supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum weeks.
My work blends evidence-based care with deeply intuitive, emotional support, helping women and their partners feel calm, confident, and connected as they move through one of life’s most transformative seasons.
I don’t just support the birthing woman, but the couple as a whole, gently guiding partners so they feel confident and present, and helping to create a space that honours the intimacy, connection, and depth of the birth experience.
I’m also a mom of five, and formerly a designer and content creator, someone who has always felt deeply drawn to creativity, nurturing, and the beauty of new beginnings.
Long before I trained professionally, I found myself naturally supporting friends and family through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, especially first-time moms and those far from their own families. I was even a birth partner for some of my closest friends years ago, an “unofficial doula.”
Over the past 15+ years, that gentle pull became a calling. Today, I’ve had the privilege of supporting a growing number of families, and I continue to find this work deeply fulfilling, almost addictive in its beauty, depth, and purpose.
All five of my children were born through physiological, unmedicated births with midwives, four in homely birthing centres, and my youngest in our home. These experiences shaped not only my trust in birth, but also my belief in the power of feeling deeply supported, safe, and connected.
They became the foundation of A.B.L.E. Birth & Baby, Affirmed, Blessed, Loved, and Empowered.
Alongside doula support, I offer birth photography, capturing the raw, intimate, and powerful moments of your baby’s arrival, allowing you to remain fully present while your story is gently and respectfully documented.

True delayed cord clamping and the physiological birth of the placenta, 28 minutes after my baby was born. The cord was only cut 30 minutes after birth, once the placenta had been born and the cord had stopped pulsating, becoming completely white, flat and emptied as my baby`s blood had returned to her.
My fifth birth, my home birth, and such a beautiful reminder of how birth can unfold when we allow time, patience and trust in the body`s natural process.

While we were relaxing in the birth pool, taking in all the goodness of our new baby and enjoying those precious first moments together, we discovered a little surprise floating in the water: the amniotic sac! Such an unexpected and beautiful moment to add to our birth story.

My 13-year-old made a SONG about me and my work as a doula, and I honestly don`t think they could have made me feel more seen or more loved.
To hear my work, my heart for families, and the moments I treasure so much put into words like these is something I`ll hold close to my heart forever.
This little video is a glimpse into what I feel so privileged to do, supporting families through one of life`s biggest moments and capturing the memories they`ll carry with them for a lifetime.

Before the first hello, there were hours of waiting, working, breathing, and finding little moments of calm along the way.
@chelseykayla_ working so hard through the intensity of labour @magikcpt right there beside her and me @doulataryn.ablebirth supporting them through the journey and capturing these precious moments as they unfolded.
With their little boy in a posterior position, labour was intense for Mama from quite early on. We created a little haven of calm with a warm bath, soft lighting, fairy lights and battery-operated candles displaying gentle birth affirmations to encourage and remind her of her strength.
Sometimes, it`s the simplest things that make such a difference. Warm water, a peaceful space, words of encouragement, a moment to breathe, and the comfort of knowing you`re not alone.
After many hours of labour, their little boy eventually made his way into the world via C-section, where he was welcomed into the waiting arms of his mom and dad.
The birth may not have unfolded quite as they had imagined, but this journey was filled with courage, love, connection and moments worth remembering.
And that`s the thing about birth. The story isn`t defined by how a baby enters the world, but by the journey that brings a family together.
Every part of the story deserves to be remembered.

Not every birth story unfolds the way we imagined, but every birth story deserves to be remembered.
After many hours of labour, with their little boy in a posterior position and labour not progressing as hoped, this beautiful family`s journey to meeting their baby led them to a C-section.
And what a privilege it was to be there to capture it all. The anticipation, the emotions, the way mom and dad looked at their precious boy, and those first moments together as a family of three.
Birth doesn`t have to go according to plan to be powerful, beautiful and worthy of being remembered. Sometimes the story takes an unexpected turn, but the love at the end of the journey is every bit as extraordinary.
These are the moments I wish every family could hold onto forever.

Birth is beautiful 🤎
Sometimes birth can take a turn and your plan changes, it`s not a failure, it`s a change of course, but it`s okay to grieve the birth you envisioned and at the same time be happy that you`re finally meeting your baby, there is space for both. This birth story was so special to support as doula and capture as photographer, witnessing the connection between this mom and dad to be was something I`ll cherish forever.

Sometimes in a birth I`m hard at work with double hip squeezes and counter pressure (like I did earlier - not pictured) or I`m grabbing my camera to capture the moment, but sometimes I`m sitting in a corner holding space while the partner does his thing.
A doula`s role is to empower not to replace, to complement not to compete, to support not to take over, it`s team work and trade offs, not him or me, every birthing woman should be able to have a doula so that every partner is empowered to support the birthing woman in the best way he can.
