NEW: Gentle Labour Encouragement Session
A natural induction–style session to gently support your body into labour
This calming, hands-on session is designed for moms who are nearing or past their estimated due date, whose waters have broken without labour starting, or who are simply wanting a natural, nurturing way to encourage their body to move toward active labour.
Using a gentle blend of essential-oil aromatherapy, relaxation massage, and focused acupressure points, the session aims to reduce tension, support oxytocin release, and help your body soften and prepare for labour.
While it is not a guaranteed induction method, many moms find it deeply relaxing, encouraging, and often notice contractions beginning within hours.
Perfect for:
• Post-dates pregnancies (40+ weeks)
• Waters breaking without the onset of labour
• Early labour that needs gentle encouragement
• Moms wanting a natural approach before medical induction becomes necessary
• Anyone needing to relax, reset, and support their body’s readiness for birth (38+ weeks)
Fee:
• Existing birth clients: R700
• Non-birth clients: R850
When sessions work best:
These sessions are ideally done in the evening, after dinner, so you can relax fully and head to bed afterward, and who knows… you may just wake up to contractions.
This is me…A doula, mama of five, & late-night thinker fuelled by faith & coffee.
Sleep is optional when hearts are full… 🤎
I’m Taryn, a Cape Town-based professional Birth Doula, certified Birth Photographer, and certified Orgasmic Birth® Practitioner, supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum weeks.
My work blends evidence-based care with deeply intuitive, emotional support, helping women and their partners feel calm, confident, and connected as they move through one of life’s most transformative seasons.
I don’t just support the birthing woman, but the couple as a whole, gently guiding partners so they feel confident and present, and helping to create a space that honours the intimacy, connection, and depth of the birth experience.
I’m also a mom of five, and formerly a designer and content creator, someone who has always felt deeply drawn to creativity, nurturing, and the beauty of new beginnings.
Long before I trained professionally, I found myself naturally supporting friends and family through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, especially first-time moms and those far from their own families. I was even a birth partner for some of my closest friends years ago, an “unofficial doula.”
Over the past 15+ years, that gentle pull became a calling. Today, I’ve had the privilege of supporting a growing number of families, and I continue to find this work deeply fulfilling, almost addictive in its beauty, depth, and purpose.
All five of my children were born through physiological, unmedicated births with midwives, four in homely birthing centres, and my youngest in our home. These experiences shaped not only my trust in birth, but also my belief in the power of feeling deeply supported, safe, and connected.
They became the foundation of A.B.L.E. Birth & Baby, Affirmed, Blessed, Loved, and Empowered.
Alongside doula support, I offer birth photography, capturing the raw, intimate, and powerful moments of your baby’s arrival, allowing you to remain fully present while your story is gently and respectfully documented.
My hope is that every woman, and every couple, I support walks away feeling ABLE, deeply affirmed, blessed, loved, and empowered in their unique journey 🤎

Have you ever heard someone say they were in labour for three days or even weeks? They may have been experiencing Prodromal Labour.
Prodromal labour is often called "practice or false labour," but if you`ve experienced it, you`ll know there`s nothing imaginary about it.
These contractions can be regular, intense, and sometimes last for hours or even days before active labour begins. It can leave you feeling tired, frustrated, and wondering when things will finally progress.
The important thing to remember is that prodromal labour is not a sign that your body is failing or doing something wrong. Often, it is part of the preparation process as your body and baby get ready for birth.
If you`re experiencing prodromal labour, focus on rest, hydration, nourishment, and support. And remember, you don`t have to navigate it alone.
One thing we don`t talk about enough is the importance of the early stages of labour. Whether you`re experiencing prodromal labour or the beginning of true labour, knowing how to care for yourself, conserve your energy, and create a calm environment can make a significant difference.
Keep an eye out for our next post, where we`ll share practical ways to prepare for and navigate early labour.

A few of the families I`ve supported and captured over the last 3 months, most days I can`t believe how blessed I am to be following my calling and I get to witness the miracle of life each day. As I type this, one client is on the brink of labour and birth and another is due really soon, and with at least two following each month through to October. my babies are all asleep in thier beds and I`m counting my blessings in the quiet of night, immensely grateful for all that God has and continues to bless me with.
Stay tuned by turning on post and story notifications 🔔 so you don`t miss out, when you see a pic of the scrubs, camera and bag you`ll know 😉

Happy 2 weeks little Eli, and the first 2 weeks as a family of 3 @liebereinecke and @ajr1986
As a Doula and a Photographer I hold a special place in my heart for the families I support and capture, there is something so special about walking alongside a family through pregnancy, birth, and those first precious days afterwards with all that it entails too, for me, it may look like postpartum and breastfeeding support, a chat and cup of tea and a relaxed in-home photoshoot too, the sweet balance of both Doula & Photographer.
Supporting woman become mothers and men become fathers, is such an honour in itself, and the added blessing of being a photographer capturing these fleeting moments, even their very first family photos, makes it all the more meaningful.
These sweet baby cuddles were from when lillte Eli was only 3 days old, tiny little feet at just 3 hours old, and the sweetest family moment of two becoming three 🤎

There is a power in birth that humbles you.
A deep, raw, sacred kind of power that can only truly be understood when you witness it unfold before you.
The strength.
The surrender.
The instinct.
The way a woman reaches deep within herself and rises into motherhood with a power that has always been there.
Birth is miraculous in the truest sense of the word. Not because it is always easy, but because of the transformation it holds. In a single moment, everything changes. A baby takes their first breath, and a mother is born too.
And there is something incredibly special about being in a birth space where providers genuinely honour that process. Where birth is not rushed or feared, but supported with patience, trust, reverence, and deep respect for physiological birth. You can feel when people truly love what they do, when they believe in birth, in women, and in the body’s ability to unfold as it was designed to.
It is such an honest privilege to witness and support births in spaces like these. A privilege I never take lightly. 🤎

It`s International Midwives Day today (5 May)
I have a special place in my heart for midwives, did you know that all five of my births were midwife lead? Yessss 💯 but as a doula I also have the special privilege of witnessing the miraculous work of midwives over and over and believe me when I tell you that it is by far the best thing ever as a doula ❤️😍
The pictures here are just a glimpse, some are of a few of my own births, some of a client`s birth that I supported as a doula and some recent selfies with two midwives who delivered some of my babies years ago.
Happy International Midwives Day! 🤰
POV: When you`re a Doula and a Photographer
If you`re new here, Hi 🤎
I’m Taryn, and I support women through pregnancy, birth, and those early newborn days that change everything.
I work as both a doula and birth photographer, so I’m right there supporting you through labour while also documenting your birth story as it unfolds. A familiar face, a trusted presence, and a steady guiding support in your birth space.
I also offer newborn lifestyle photography, because the story doesn’t stop at birth. Alongside this, I do antenatal education talks at clinics, covering birth, doula support, and breastfeeding. I’m also an Orgasmic Birth Practitioner, and I offer private in-home birth preparation classes to help moms feel informed, calm, and confident heading into birth.
I’m a mom of five, and through my own journey of pregnancy, birth experiences, breastfeeding ups and downs, and navigating all the “what am I doing?” moments, I deeply understand the realities of motherhood. It’s what allows me to truly support you, and to remind you that you are ABLE.
Able to birth your baby
Able to move through your own unique journey
Able to feel supported, informed, and held
I’m so glad you’re here 🤎
Fun fact! I also just realized that I officially became a doula just over a year ago, so it`s also a HAPPY DOULA BIRTHDAY to meeee!!!
Affirmed. Blessed. Loved. Empowered.
Isn`t it sweet 🤎
Cosy in home, relaxed newborn sessions with soft lighting and while it`s pouring with rain outside are fast becoming a favourite 🌧️⛅📷

What a sweet newborn session today... 🤎 and a lovely a full circle moment too.
From capturing their birth to now these soft, love-filled newborn snuggles at home… it’s such an honour to witness these chapters unfold.
This beautiful family was also the winner of the @mamiandme_baby_expo giveaway and I don’t think we could’ve asked for a sweeter shoot today.
Also… I think I’m officially falling in love with these cozy, rainy day, in-home newborn sessions 🧸
